| 01 | 01-05-2026 | Nagar Bhawan Simdega | The official launch of the Self-Enumeration program under India’s Census 2027 was held at Nagar Bhavan, Simdega. The program was jointly inaugurated by Simdega MLA Shri Bhushan Bara, Deputy Commissioner Simdega Smt. Kanchan Singh, Superintendent of Police Shri Srikant S. Khotare, Municipal Council President Shri Oliver Lakra, Vice President Shri Deepak Kumar Agarwal, Additional Collector Shri Gyanendra, Project Director ITDA Smt. Saroj Tirkey, along with other public representatives and officials, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. All the guests were welcomed with plant saplings.
During the program, District Informatics Officer Shri Gaurav Kumar gave a detailed demonstration of the entire self-enumeration process. Through an LED screen, the attendees were informed about 33 important points related to the census and were explained how to fill them in. During this time, all participants completed self-enumeration while watching the live process on their smartphones. At the beginning of the program, MLA Bhushan Bara himself completed his self-enumeration, which created enthusiasm and awareness among the people present. In his address, MLA Bhushan Bara said that the census is not only a count of the population, but also the foundation of the overall development of the country. He said that only on the basis of correct data can it be decided in which areas schools, hospitals, roads, and drinking water facilities are needed. He appealed to the officials and employees to work with honesty and responsibility and also requested the general public to cooperate with the census staff. Deputy Commissioner Simdega, Smt. Kanchan Singh, said that the census is an important national responsibility, and it is being carried out as a public campaign so that the participation of as many people as possible can be ensured. She said that this time, the use of digital methods and the self-enumeration facility will make the process simpler, more transparent, and more accurate. She appealed to all citizens to actively participate in this campaign, which will run from 1 to 15 May 2026, and said that if people enter their own data themselves, the work of enumerators will become much easier. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all office heads to ensure self-enumeration in their respective offices and submit its details so that the district can achieve 100 percent target. She also spoke about promoting self-enumeration widely. She said that through teachers, schoolchildren should be informed about the census, so that the children can go back home and share the information with their parents. Superintendent of Police Srikant S. Khotre said in his address that census data is extremely important for governance and administration, as it helps in policy-making and proper allocation of resources. He described the use of digital methods as something that increases the transparency and accuracy of the census. He also instructed police officers to remain alert during the census process and play an active role in preventing any kind of rumour or cyber misuse. Additional Collector Gyanendra said that the census is the foundation of good governance, through which the effective implementation of various development schemes is made possible. He appealed to all citizens to participate enthusiastically in the self-enumeration campaign and provide correct information so that the benefits of schemes can reach the needy. At the end of the program, Land Reforms Deputy Collector Aruna Kumari delivered the vote of thanks and said that this event is a symbol of collective commitment toward an important task like the census. She expressed gratitude to all guests, officials, employees, and participants for their cooperation. She praised the concerned officers and staff for completing the HLB demarcation and geo-tagging work ahead of schedule. The district administration expressed confidence that Simdega district would set an example in the state by performing excellently in the self-enumeration campaign. At the end of the program, the MLA and the Deputy Commissioner flagged off the self-enumeration awareness vehicle. This vehicle will reach various villages of the block and spread awareness among people about self-enumeration and share information. The Deputy Commissioner also released balloons related to self-enumeration. During the signature campaign, all the visitors signed their names. A large number of district-level officials, all block development officers, public representatives, common citizens, media personnel, and trainers were present at the program.
